NDE empowers 50 youths in Imo with skills, equipments Val Okara, Owerri

The National Directorate of Employment has empowered 50 youths in Imo state in various skills.?The Director-General of NDE,? Mallam Abubakar Mohammed handed over the ?resettlement items? to the youths at Enyiato Development Centre, Enyiogugu in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area.

The equipment include: generating sets, hair drying machines, cooking gas, sets of kitchen utensils, decoration chairs, and satellite dish installation equipments aside others.

Mohammed who was represented by the State Director of the NDE, Mr. Jaja Isichei observed that the gesture was necessitated by the annual increase of unemployment.

He said the beneficiaries were trained in various skills ranging from hair dressing, confectionaries, decorations, Satellite Dish Installation and tilling under the Community Based Training and Resettlement Scheme of the Directorate.

He stated that the aim of the resettlement package was to take away the eyes of the youths from the labour market, make them self reliant to contribute to the economic growth of the nation.

?It was put in place in recognition of the importance of resettling graduates of National Open Apprenticeship Scheme(NOAS) and Community-Based Training Scheme (CBTS) to make them self-employed?.

An??address by Mrs Ego Agbogu, Deputy Director, Planning, Research and Statistics of? NDE, Isichei said the equipments were to make the beneficiaries employers of labour and not job seekers.

He said the NDE put in place four core programmes to tackle unemployment among which is the Vocational Skills Development. He commended the beneficiaries and urged them to adhere strictly to the guidelines and conditions of the loan package.
