Confidence can be developed over time. Many school activities are geared at improving self confidence. Many include developing social skills in groups. For example, children at an early age are taught to communicate with others in the school environment. Unique personalities require personal ways to improve self confidence. Though many confidence-building actions should be customized, there are ways to improve self confidence that generally apply to the majority, including:

Ways to Improve Self Confidence #1: Be Yourself

Act naturally, be yourself. Don’t to act the way others expect you to. Your unique personality makes you different from the rest. Your strengths may be others’ weaknesses or the other way around. Hone on your strengths and downplay weaknesses.

When you are your normal self, you are more relaxed and can speak or act with confidence. Know yourself. Such awareness allows you to make adjustments, to address deficiencies that affect self assurance. Take for instance lack of good looks. Character and attitude for men or make-up and clothing for women can improve perceptions.

When relating to others, you need to listen to conversations. If you are not attentive, you cannot speak with confidence. Your response should at all times be relevant. Awareness is one of the ways to build self confidence, to help you properly react to given situations. Learn as you listen. Study how others deal with confidence-threatening circumstances and see if you can apply the same in your circumstance/s.

Ways to Improve Self Confidence #3: Trust in the Good of Others

If you have a suspicious nature and think others are sure to do you wrong, you will have difficulty connecting.

In such cases, your lack of confidence restricts you from developing sincere and lasting relationships. You may tend to be unfriendly and distant. Losing self-assurance follows, with the fear of being wronged or misunderstood. So trust in the good of others (and think positively on the hoped-for outcome).

One of the ways to build self confidence is to share your skills or talents with others. If you are good at singing or playing certain sports, you have reasons to be self assured. An innate talent can help build self esteem. So use it to benefit from it. Sharing should not be limited to skills or talents. When you are out on a date for example, sincerely share who you are. Sincerity is easily felt and understood. You can relate better to others when truthful.

Lack of confidence may be experienced from time to time, when faced with unknown situations. Repetitive activities and experience provides certainty and with it, assurance. If you consistently choose to work on ways to build self confidence, you will find it easier to handle confidence-threatening conditions.

Taking on different ways to improve self confidence may seem to be a long process but if you truly work at it, desired results are sure to be achieved.  There should be no room for stubbornness and excuses.  When you feel that you are regressing, remind yourself why you need to push yourself harder. Motivation does wonders.
