A 4 year old boy Mutala Mohammed was crashed by 24 years old truck driver Nelson Opoku during the Ramadan holiday at Tema.

According to the driver, on that faithful day the deceased was in the company of his mother beside the road but surprisingly Mutala Mohammed run to cross the road alone.

He added that the mother of? the deceased called him back but it was too late, as a result he ran over the boy?s head although he applied brake but couldn?t saved the life of the deceased. He said, he ran to the police station to report himself as soon as he realized the boy was dead at the spot.

Meanwhile Tema MTTU Commander Supt. Oduro Amaning told The Moment that, the truck driver was using license B to drive the truck which is an offence and secondly according to the laws of the Nation a truck or commercial driver should be over 25 years. In light of this the docket of the case would be transferred to Attorney General?s Office for advice because of the seriousness nature of the case.

He explained that license B holders are supposed to drive a private car or taxi only but in a research conducted by the MTTU revealed that most drivers are not adhering to this regulation especially trotro drivers. Hence ?I will not rest until all such people are brought to book?. He noted the body of the deceased has been deposited at Tema General Hospital and the driver has been granted bill awaiting the decision of the Attorney General.
