2015 Appropriation bill Passed By Anambra State Assembly

The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed the 2015 Appropriation bill of over N164 billion naira into law.
The Finance and Appropriation Committee chairman, Hon Nikky Ugochuchukwu who presented the report, explained that after a thorough examination of the provisions in the budget, the estimated overhead cost was reduced from N282m to N82m.

While the overhead cost of the office of the Secretary to the State Government was slashed from N855m to N755m, whereas that of the governor?s office was increased from N16.774bn. Other key adjustments include the proposed figure for the Anambra State Lands Information Management System which was changed from N100m to N30m, while the financial provision for the completion/expansion of the Ministry?s Headquarter building was altered from N30m to N100m.

In a brief remark, the Speaker, Chinwe Nwaebili expressed appreciation to everyone who worked assiduously towards the passage of the budget in time. Meanwhile a number of Civil Societies groups in the state alleged that the legislators did not do a thorough job before passing the appropriation bill into law, they also argued that the bane of the state has always been fiscal indiscipline. They also described it as ‘campaign budget’
