148 People Benefit From Skill Acquisition

No fewer than 148 people benefitted from a skill acquisition programme organised by the Dominion Faith International Church, Ipaja.

The General Overseer of Dominion Faith International Church, Ipaja; Reverend David Olatona said this during the 11th graduation ceremony of the Centre for Vocational Empowerment and Development, established by the church to empower its host community.

He said: ?The free training was provided for the 148 graduants to enable them acquire skills in the area of Event Decoration, Catering, Bead and Jewellery Making, Computer Appreciation, Printing Class, Chemical Production, Adult Literacy among others.

?The Chemical production class has the highest number of graduants, with 40 students, followed by the Catering with 36, while the decoration department produced 31graduants. Others include Beaded and Jewelry 21, Computer 10, Hair-dressing 4, Printing 4.?

In his welcome address, coordinator of the centre, Pastor Jide Esan appealed to members of the public to take advantage of the opportunity to improve their lifestyle.

Esan said the initiative has gone international with its introduction to 10 Africa Nations, which include Burkina Faso, Sierra-Leone, Benin Republic Chad, Guinea Bissau, Togo, Gambia, Liberia, Niger, and Guinea Conakry.

?The church will continue to run the programme free. I appeal to rich individuals and corporate bodies to partner with the church to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the society.

 ?Over 2,100 people have been empowered and issued certificated both locally and internationally after impacting entrepreneurial skills and vocational knowledge in them to raise and build prosperous ventures, thereby making them financially independent.?
