THE PRAMPRAM Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a 14-year-old Junior High (JHS) student of the Prampram Seventh Day Adventist (S.D.A) basic school for allegedly defiling an eight year-old girl at Prampram in the Ningo-Prampram District of Accra.

The boy (named withheld) is under investigation in connection with the defilement case, where he was mentioned to have lured the victim into an uncompleted building in the area and had sexual intercourse with her.

A police source told DAILY GUIDE that on September 5, 2012, the complainant in the case who happens to be the mother of the victim smelled bad odour emanating from the vagina of the victim and upon questioning, the victim mentioned that she and her friend, also underage, were defiled in turns by the suspect in an uncompleted building in the area.

Mother of the victim, immediately lodged a complaint at the Prampram DOVVSU and without wasting much time, the suspect was arrested. The first victim was issued with police medical report form to attend Tema General Hospital for treatment and examination.

The medical report form was said to have been endorsed and returned to the police station stating that ?On the vaginal examination, the hymen was seen with tear in the lateral wall. The HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis screen were negative.?

Suspect during interrogation and in his caution statement, vehemently denied the offence and stated further that he had never set eye on the first victim prior to his arrest.

According to information, the Prampram DOVVSU further traced the second victim but she however, denied having been defiled or witnessed such act between the first victim and the suspect.

When the second victim was also taken to the aforementioned hospital for medical examination, the report was said to have stated that ?On the vaginal examination, no abnormalities or injuries were seen. The hymen was present and complete.

The Prampram DOVVSU is holding the suspect to appear before court as at the time of filing the report.
