Serene Insurance Limited has announced a combined GH₵22 million support package for Ghana’s Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, comprising GH₵2 million in cash and a GH₵20 million aggregate Group Personal Accident Insurance cover for the duration of the tournament.
The package, announced in response to the national fundraising campaign officially launched by President John Dramani Mahama at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra on March 20, covers the playing body, technical team and sponsored supporters travelling to the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
Under the insurance structure, each member of the playing body receives GH₵100,000 in cover, technical team members are covered for GH₵30,000 each, and sponsored supporters receive GH₵10,000 per person. The 24-hour policy runs from June 1 to July 31, 2026, covering bodily injury and death resulting from accidents during the tournament period.
Chief Executive Officer Mercy Naa Koshie Boampong said the investment reflected the company’s broader commitment to backing national development through sport.
“We are not just protecting players, we are protecting dreams, securing glory and shielding Ghana’s pride,” she said.
The Ghana World Cup Committee has set a fundraising target of $30 million to fund the team’s full participation, including four international friendly matches, with any surplus to be channelled into the GhanaFund and all contributions managed through dedicated Bank of Ghana accounts. The campaign has so far generated $12,096,000 alongside GH₵13,950,000 in cedi-denominated pledges, in addition to the GH₵20 million insurance package.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L and will face Panama in Toronto on June 17, England in Boston on June 23, and Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
Serene Insurance, a member of the First Sky Group, has received recognition as Fastest Growing Insurance Company in 2022 and Best Growing Insurance Company for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024. The company says it operates an agency network of more than 300 active agents across Ghana.
