Minority leader raises alarm over death threat

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minority leader

THE MINORITY leader in parliament has stated that he is unperturbed about threats on his life from the resigned Minister of Education because he believes that his God will continue to protect him from the plans of the enemy.

Hon Kyei Mensah-Bonsu indicated that so far as God was alive, no wicked plan against him would come to fruition.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame in Kumasi claims that Betty Mould-Iddrisu has threatened to end his life in retaliation to his persistent attack on her in the Woyome saga.

Mrs Mould-Iddrissu, who was the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice when the country’s single largest payment of judgment debt to an individual was effected, resigned on Monday.

The minority in parliament, led by Mr Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, had earlier mounted pressure on her to resign or be sacked for her role in the Woyome saga which continues to enjoy media headlines.

The Suame MP told Kessben FM, a Kumasi-based radio station that close associates of Mrs Mould-Iddrissu had hinted him the former minister had told them she would get rid of him.

He said though several people had told him of the alleged devilish intention of the former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, he did not take it serious until a close confidant of the ex-Minister of Education reiterated that threat to him on Tuesday.

According to him, the people who divulged the purported plan by Mrs Mould-Iddrissu indicated to him that she was peeved and angry at him because she believed he caused her eventual resignation from office.

He said the whistleblowers who cautioned him to be careful told him that the former minister was of the view that had he not taken a personal interest in the Woyome saga and implicated her, she would not have come under immense pressure to resign.

In spite of the alleged threats, Mr Kyei Mensah said he was unperturbed because his God will protect him.

Stressing that he would not take the matter up to the police for investigations, the outspoken minority leader noted that he did not even believe that Mrs Mould-Iddrissu could instigate his killing.

He added that the former Attorney-General might have issued the threats to her close associates out of pain but not because she wanted to do that.

The minority leader indicated that if anybody had any diabolic intentions about him because of the role he was playing in the Woyome saga, such person should change and ask for forgiveness because whatever role he had played was done in the supreme interest of the nation.

The minority leader had on Tuesday evening told Citi FM about the alleged death threat.
Mrs Mould-Iddrisu, who is at the centre of the Woyome saga, is reported to have vowed to kill the NPP MP by knifing him.

Asked how he got to know of the threat, Hon Kyei Mensah-Bonsu said some close confidants of the former minister who heard her say “she was going to deal with me by ending my life” later confided in him and asked him to be chary.

“…I don’t believe she is capable of executing it…however, I will discuss it with my colleagues and if we would have to go to the police, we will do that…,” Mr Mensah-Bonsu said.

Recently, the Minority Caucus in Parliament called on President John Evans Atta-Mills to relieve Betty Mould-Iddrisu of her current ministerial post as Education Minister for being “negligent, reckless and unprofessional” in the Woyome saga.

They accused her of conniving with embattled NDC financier Alfred Agbesi Woyome to fleece the state when she was Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and that her actions and inactions in the whole ‘Woyome brouhaha’ was tantamount to causing financial loss to the state.

Nadal shoots down Federer

Rafael Nadal once again proved Roger Federer’s nemesis, withstanding a withering opening from the Swiss great to reach the final of the Australian Open.

The Spaniard won 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 to prolong the agony for his greatest rival, who has now lost eight times to the Spaniard in 10 meetings at a major.

Federer was left a weeping wreck when Nadal remorselessly ground him down in 2009’s nail-biting five-set final in Melbourne but failed in his bid for revenge under the lights on Rod Laver Arena.

“For me it’s a dream to be back in the final,” said a smiling Nadal.

“It’s a real honour to play against Roger, it was a fantastic match. It’s fantastic to have one player in front of you who doesn’t make mistakes, having a totally complete game.”

Nadal, who has won 10 majors, now goes on to meet either defending champion Novak Djokovic or Britain’s Andy Murray in Sunday night’s final.

Federer produced flawless tennis at the start of the match but his game unravelled when put under pressure by Nadal and he finished with 63 unforced errors.

Unleashing his full arsenal, four-time Australian Open champion Federer held serve to love and broke the Spaniard at his first opportunity with a devastating cross-court backhand with Nadal struggling to gain a foothold.

Nadal broke back but third-seed Federer raised his game again after his mid-set wobble and he took the tie-break when Nadal went long.

The players swapped service breaks at the start of the second set but the turning point came when Nadal held off a Federer break point in the fifth game and then broke the Swiss in the very next game to move ahead 4-2.

The match was suspended for 10 minutes for Australia Day fireworks with Nadal leading 5-2 and when play resumed Federer badly lost his focus, losing 11 consecutive points on top of straight three points he lost before the break.

Nadal, 25, levelled the match at one set apiece, took the first game of set three to love and held three break points after two consecutive Federer double faults, only for the misfiring Swiss to claw himself out of the hole.

Federer, 30, battled hard to break Nadal in game seven of the third set but the Spaniard broke back immediately to level things up and Nadal went on to take the tie-break on his sixth set point.

A tense fourth set went with serve with Nadal looking mentally the stronger, continuing to chase down balls from seemingly impossible situations.

He saved a break point from Federer in the eighth game and broke the Swiss in the following game.

But the Spaniard still had to fight hard to serve out for victory, saving two Federer break points, including an astonishing retrieval onto the baseline which the Swiss then wafted wide.

Federer, seeking his first major in two years, had not dropped a set until Thursday’s semi-final but Nadal, who now leads their overall series 18-9, once again proved he has the edge over Federer on the biggest stage.

Rihanna Returns Home From Hawaii+Chris Brown and Rihanna Spotted In Same Club…

Rihanna looks radiant and glowing as she was spotted in LAX returning from her escapades in Hawaii. The pop star looks rested and happy. I guess that what sun, sand, see and a smoke will do for you. Rihanna is so relaxed she even thought she would forgot to wear a strapless bra with her sheer strapless dress…maybe I’m asking too much of her to wear some underwear.

More Pics After the jump!

Meanwhile, rumours are rife that Rihanna may indeed be Chris Brown and the DL. In a rare moment where the two were spotted out in public socially in the same place, it’s been said the two are definitely back together in secret. The three-some where all spotted out at Hollywood night spot Greystone Manor. Though these pix are not any kind of proof the two destructive couple are back together, they seem to be inching closer and closer together.

Though this is no surprise to me as they kept it quiet the first time round. I want to say I feel sorry for his girlfriend Karrueche Tran but if she’s wants to turn a blind eye to it then that’s entirely her business.
