The police at Agona Nyakrom in the Central Region are facing the threat of ejection from their residence as for failing to pay for rent of their accommodation for two consecutive years.
The police administration is to cough an amount of only GH 500.00 Cedis to defray the rent for the 10-room house residence.
Information gathered by SpyGhana indicates that the landlord has written several letters to the police administration, demanding the rent arrears to maintain the house, but all to no avail.
The information further revealed that the landlord is preparing a legal suit against the police administration to eject the police personnel in the house, if it fails to pay the rent in a given time.
A visit around the house showed visible cracks, posing threat of collapse if immediate steps are not taken to renovate the house.
According to the information, the cracks were as a result of a flooding that occurred in the area about five years ago which destroyed many properties and brought down many buildings.
When contacted, the landlord of the house, Rev. Daniel Oduro indicated that the house was rented to the police by his late father with the consent of his children on an agreement renewable every two years which he, Rev. Oduro said was a signatory to, but noted that the police have failed to pay for rent for the past two years.
Apart from the cracks, the landlord said the floor of the roofing also leaks anytime itrains.
According to him, he has no initial intention of ejecting the police from the house, but stressed that he is demanding the arrears to renovate the house to save it from possible collapse.
However, he disclosed that he will not hesitate to prepare legal suit against the police administration to eject personnel of the Service from the house if it fails to pay the arrears to enable him renovate the house.
