Abdul Karim Zito has left the door open to a possible return to Asante Kotoko SC one day, while expressing dissatisfaction with the club’s performances since his departure last month.

Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM on Friday, March 13, 2026, the veteran tactician said his bond with the Porcupine Warriors runs too deep to rule out a future reunion. Zito, who resigned on February 9 following Kotoko’s elimination from the MTN FA (Football Association) Cup by Aduana Stars, insisted there are no hard feelings between him and the club.

“I might return to Kotoko one day,” Zito said, adding that despite leaving, the club holds a special place in his career.

The 65-year-old also reflected on what made his brief but trophy-laden stint successful, stressing that patience was the cornerstone of his approach at the Kumasi-based side. In just 43 days at the helm during the 2024-2025 season, Zito guided Kotoko to four trophies, including the FA Cup, President’s Cup, Champion of Champions Cup and the Toyota Cup.

However, he did not hold back on the club’s recent form. Kotoko, now under interim charge of Prince Yaw Owusu, have struggled since Zito’s exit, managing just one win from four matches. The club currently sit fifth in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) table, trailing leaders Medeama Sporting Club by several points.

“I am not happy with Kotoko’s current results,” Zito told the station, though he stopped short of directing blame at anyone in particular.

Zito has since taken up a new challenge at Division One League leaders FC AshantiGold 04, who are pushing for promotion back to the Premier League. The Obuasi-based side confirmed his appointment on February 25, 2026, with the club expressing confidence in the experience and winning mentality he brings to their promotion campaign.
