The Zambian leader is expected in New York on September 23 and will be among 154 heads of state and government that will deliberate on the post-2015 Development Agenda at the Summit which coincides with the 70th anniversary of the founding of the UN, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Chalwe Lombe.

The official told state broadcaster, the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation, that the Zambian leader will make his maiden appearance at the General Assembly following his election in January this year.

He will also participate in the general debate as well as address high level meetings in his various capacities as chair of the Presidents’ Bureau of the Great Lakes Region and Vice-President of the UNICEF Executive Board as well as Chairperson of the Commission for Population.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Mwaba Kasese-Botha said the government has made remarkable contributions to the post-development agenda which succeeds the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Enditem
