Zambia is expected to receive normal to above normal rainfall during the 2019/2020 rain season, a forecast released on Wednesday showed.

Mutotwe Kafwaya, Minister of Transport and Communications, who released the results, said most of the rains will occur during the November-March period.

He said that in the last three months of 2019, most parts of the country will receive normal to above normal rainfall, except for the north-western part of the country.

He however said the southern half of the country was likely to experience dry spells around February 2020 while other parts of the country are likely to record floods and flash floods in flood prone areas.

Zambia is currently facing a power deficit which has seen the power utility introducing electricity rationing which has now been increased from four hours to six hours due to low water levels in hydropower plants. Enditem
