The memorandum of understanding to provide a power gateway among the three countries will be signed next month, according to Minister of Mines, Energy and Water Development, Christopher Yaluma.
“Early next month, I will be in Malawi to sign a memorandum of understanding for power interconnection which would boost power exchange among the three countries,” he was quoted as saying by the paper.
The Zambian minister said currently a power transmission line in the eastern part of the country was being upgraded from 66 to 330 kilowatts for the purpose of the interconnector project.
Recently, Zambia signed a power inter-connector agreement with neighboring Tanzania and the Zambian minister said the implementation of the project was currently waiting for funding from cooperating partners. Enditem
