The winner of the United Nations Youth Peace Ambassador of Ghana 2018, Miss Ruth Afoko, has donated learning materials to the Dixcove Primary and Junior High School in the Western Region as part of activities to mark the International Women’s Day.

The materials include books, pens, pencils, and rulers to help improve academic work of the pupils.

Mr Abukari Inbrana Awudu, the Founder of Qualievent Ghana, organisers of the Miss Peace Ambassador Pageant, presented the items on behalf of Miss Afoko, who is outside the country on assignment.

He said the donation was to give back to society and ensure that the pupils had inner peace to study.

Mr Awudu said: “We discovered that this School is one of the deprived schools in the constituency that is why we are here to support the pupils with learning materials.”

He urged them to take their studies seriously and excel in order to justify the investment being made in them by their parents and teachers.

Mrs Nancy Baidoo, the Headmistress of the School, said she was grateful for the kind gesture by the Peace Ambassador Team, which would go a long way to support the pupils, most of whom found it difficult to buy materials for learning.

She said the School lacked desks for the pupils to sit and learn in a conducive environment and appealed to the Government, Non-Governmental Organisations and community members to go to their aid to improve the pupils’ academic performance.

Mr Benjamin Sakyi from Qualievent Ghana, said the initiative was to teach the children about peaceful coexistence with their neighbours to promote unity.

“I believe that peaceful coexistence starts from the children and if we are able to instil peace in them now, they would grow and live peacefully with others in their various communities.’’
