The Shia community is to offer scholarships for the youth to empower them to go into productive ventures.

The community is also setting up fund to support the aged and the vulnerable in the society to help them to improve upon their standards of living.

Sheikh Ahmed Kamaludeen, National Chief Imam of the community, disclosed this in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Madina in the Greater Accra Region.

He said the youth empowerment programme formed part of the community?s social responsibilities.

Sheikh Kamaludeen said youth empowerment has been one of the priorities of the community.

He attributed some of the social vices currently going on among the youth as due to neglect and called for more support from the government and non-governmental organisations.

The National Chief Imam urged the youth to venture into agriculture which he said is lucrative.
