The Kano State Government said on Thursday that it spent N508 million on youth empowerment and training programme.

The Governor of the state, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, made the announcement at the graduation of 800 youths, trained under the “Lafiya Jari Programme”, a youth empowerment programme of the government.

Kwankwaso said the participants were trained in traditional and modern barbing, pedicure, hairdressing and patent medicine business.

He said the beneficiaries were selected from the 44 local government areas of the state as part of the government’s effort to fight poverty.

“This is part of our plan to alleviate poverty and facilitate sustainable entrepreneurship in the state,?? he said.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of the programme, Alhaji Shehu Aliyu, commended the government for supporting the youths.

Aliyu urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the training to enable them to become self-reliant.
