– AKS PDP Boss, others not cleared

– How Aniekan Umana lied

Akwa Ibom State police command under the leadership of Mr. Solomon Arase has uncovered true killers of Elder Paul Inyang, former south south zonal secretary of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party. Link might have been established between the assassins who reside in Mbierebe Akpawat and a controversial PDP bigwig next door in Nung Udoe,?Weekend Global Concord?learnt few weeks ago. A comprehensive police investigative report earlier conducted and available to?Weekend Global Concord?did not clear top PDP and government functionaries accused of complicity in the murder case. The report which was signed by CP John O Moronike, Homicide section, D Department, Abuja cleared Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, Hon Emmanuel Obot and few others. ?From the investigations conducted, there is no evidence to sustain a charge of conspiracy and murder against Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, Uduak Owoidohe Edet Akpan, Sunday Monday Ben, Iniobong Monday Ben, Ntiense Monday Ben, Hon Emmanuel Obot, Alice Monday Ben and Elder Ubong Bassey Obot.
?It is therefore recommended that they be exonerated of the alleged crime in the interest of justice as it is better to allow ten guilty persons to escape justice than to punish an innocent person unjustly?
The report was silent on Prince Uwem Ita Etuk who was interrogated in connection to the assassination. Uwem had denied having a hand in the murder.
Ring of a killer squad that held Ibesikpo Asutan hostage for years now was broken penultimate week when the police arrested key members of the notorious gang resident in the area.
A police source who handed to?Weekend Global Concord?the complete police report into the killing of Mr. Paul Inyang hints that the arrested suspects made confession to carrying out notorious criminal activities in Ibesikpo Asutan and admitted to killing Elder Paul Inyang. According to our impeccable police source, the gang had successfully carried out five operations ?not unconnected to state politics, kidnapped, robbed and assassinated people who they felt were obstacles to their paymasters.
According to him, ?The gang was responsible for the assassination of one Hon Imoh Udonwa, Paul Inyang, Daniel Ekanam??
Our police source confided in the press that recent investigation into the death of Mr. Edem Johnson, brother to Dr Samuel Johnson,? aka, Samikolo, a US based medical practitioner has ?implicated a top ranking PDP officer in Akwa Ibom State who is from Ibesikpo Asutan. Investigations points at him as being sponsor of the criminal act to secure his office?
Edem Johnson was abducted in his Mbierebe home and demanded to pay ransome of N100m. He was killed by the kidnappers and buried in shallow grave in Mbirebe Akpawat. Police investigation led to the arrest of the gang leader in far away Jos, Plateau State leading to the arrest of other culprits who secured information that helped the police to exhume Mr. Johnson.
If the police have indicted any top notch around the government of governor Godswill Akpabio and the PDP, or made any revelation, it will not be far from our investigative report of our volume 1 no 19 of Tuesday, 3rd?August,2010 in connection to the killing of Elder Paul Inyang on 20th?June 2010. The story tagged: ?Agony of A party Chairman: Arrested, Exco to be booted? revolved round activities of the late Paul Inyang shortly before his assassination. He was said to have been adopted by Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo as consensus care taker chairman of PDP in Akwa Ibom State to put to rest the rivalry between factions led by Obong Victor Attah and Gov Godswill Akpabio. That was after Nwodo announced that nine states in the federation were to have their exco reshuffled to accommodate larger interest of the party. Prince Uwem Ita Etuk was roundly accused of masterminding the assassination of Inyang when news of the dastardly act broke. The accusation was contained in a petition to President Jonathan by Forum of Uyo Patriots. The group alleged that? Prince Etuk was the brain behind the killing of Elder Inyang and Hon Imoh Udonwa who were once touted to be adopted by NEC of PDP to replace him.
In a swift reaction, Hon Aniekan Umana, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information refuted the story. He said neither Uwem Ita Etuk was arrested and interrogated by the police as contained in the story nor any government official. While describing?Global Concord?with unprintable terms, Mr Umana in his press release posted August 24 2010 in Akwa Ibom State news sites challenged the paper to come out with police extract of the interrogation. Umana said: ?For the avoidance of doubt, let it be known that neither the Secretary to the State Government, Obong Umana Okon Umana nor the Commissioner for Information and Social Re-orientation, Mr. Aniekan Umanah was ever interrogated on any issue by any arm of the security agencies, talk less of the one referred to. What is rather shocking yet pitiful is the nadir to which the brains behind this publication are ready to descend at a period they should be mourning with relations of the dead who was yet to be buried at the time they went to press.
We hereby challenge the perpetrators of this falsehood and blatant misinformation to produce excerpts of the station entry of the purported interrogation for all to see.
Before that is done, if ever, the State Government wishes to advise members of the public to henceforth disregard such blatant falsehood from an unregistered tabloid whose stock-in-trade is to churn out lies, propaganda, deceit, libel and continuously fan the embers of disunity in the State?.
Events have not only proven Mr Umana wrong but as one who is out to use his office to cover tracts of government officials who indulged in criminalities while advancing the second term guber ambition of governor Akpabio. Events have also proven the commissioner wrong in his comments about?Global Concord?as being gutter journalists?
In this edition and as a way of defending the story we once published, we present unedited, police report of the brutal assassination of Elder Paul Inyang to members of the public. Many of those interrogated are government officials who were fingered by members of the public as masterminds of the killing onslaught in Akwa Ibom State preparatory to the April governorship election in 2011. People like the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Social Re-Orientation might have worked to suppress this report while advancing his campaign of calumny against media houses who were investigating the rise in assassination, kidnapping and infiltration of arms in Akwa Ibom State within the last five years. We affirmed that all stories publish by Global Concord are true and verifiable as seen in this case.
