Widows and children of the late Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II, in keeping with Dagbon customary practice have visited the Gbewah Palace, in Yendi, to be briefed on the funeral of their deceased husband and father.

The 26 widows and 80 children had travelled to the place from various communities including Tamale and Zabzugu.

Kampakuya-Naa Andani Yakubu Abdulai, the Regent of Dagbon, announced this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Yendi after the visit on Tuesday.

He said presentation of information at the meeting was done jointly by Tugu Lana, Mahama Andani, and Kpating Lana, Ziblim Fuseini, they had since returned to their different locations.

Kampakuya-Naa Yakubu Abdulai said the next step would be to officially inform parents of the widows about the funeral of the late Chief and they in turn would communicate to them the arrangements before the performance of the traditional funeral rites.

On November 21, this year, the Committee of Eminent Chiefs, which has been mediating the Dagbon chieftaincy dispute, presented to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, a roadmap for the performance of the funerals of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai (IV) and Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani (II).

This is a significant step towards resolving the conflict and the installation of a new Yaa-Naa.

According to the roadmap, the Abudu Royal Family was to perform the funeral of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV from December 14, to December 28, at the Gbewaa Palace after which they would vacate the place for the Andani Royal Family to also enter from January 04, to January 18, 2019, to perform the funeral of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani.

Immediately after the funerals, a substantive Yaa-Naa would be selected and enskinned to rule over the Dagbon.

  1. The last paragraph didn’t go well at all.
Why not ” Dagbon” instead of ” the Dagbon”
“Immediately after the funerals, a substantive Yaa-Naa would be selected and enskinned to rule over the Dagbon.”
I hope you have no problem with Dagbang.
