The Western Region Rent Control recorded a total of 615 rent control cases in 2017 as against 607 cases in 2018.

The cases which include misconduct of tenants, breach of agreement, grace period and inducement were reported by both landlords and tenants.

Mr Philip Skido Deh, the Regional Manager of Rent Control, who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said majority of the rent cases reported at his outfit were done by landlords.

He said within 2017 and last year, 453 landlords reported cases against their tenants whiles 182 tenants also lodged complaints against their landlords.

He said 387 claim cases by landlords were recorded within 2017 and 2018 with 54 inducement cases coming from tenants.

The Regional Manager said 19 breach of agreement cases were recorded, whiles 109 grace period cases were also recorded.

Mr Deh said his outfit was able to resolve all cases that were brought before them except those referred to the law courts.

The Regional Manager said logistics have been a major challenge for the office to carry out its operations effectively.

He said challenges encountered by the offices were mainly due to logistics as the office did not also have a vehicle to carry out its duties especially with the inspection of cases.
