Workonline Communications has launched a new Internet Protocol transit point at Equinix’s JN1 data centre in Johannesburg, strengthening pan-African digital infrastructure through its strategic partnership with Equinix.

This expansion enhances cross-continental connectivity between Africa, Europe, and Asia-Pacific while enabling global content providers to serve African markets.

Benjamin Deveaux, Head of Business Development at Workonline Communications Group, stated: “Our collaboration with Equinix allows us to offer customers unmatched performance, low-latency routing, and seamless scalability across continents.” The deployment builds on Workonline’s established presence in Equinix’s London facility since 2013, applying its proven cross-connect density model to Johannesburg.

Equinix South Africa Managing Director Sandile Dube confirmed: “Workonline provides essential connectivity services supporting our customers and driving African innovation.” The Johannesburg hub delivers critical infrastructure for cloud services, content delivery networks, and telecommunications operators amid rising regional demand. Workonline plans further continental expansion following successes in South Africa and Nigeria.

This infrastructure investment addresses Africa’s accelerating digital transformation needs while establishing Johannesburg as a strategic interconnection node for global networks.
