The Women In Sports Association (WISA), an NGO for sports promotion and development have sent congratulatory messages to Madam Leanier Addy, the only female in the new Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) who were elected for a four year term at the Alisa Swiss Spirit Hotel in Accra.
Madam Gloria Commodore aka Mama G, executive direction and co-founder of the association whose aim is to support the promotion and organize sports programmes and events said the election of Leanier Addy who got 55 votes is a sign of confidence and trust that people have in her.
She prayed that Addy will excel in her new office and create opportunities for girls who want to participate in sports.
President of the association Rosemary Gaisie, a popular media practitioner who also loves sports advised her to ensure peace, love and unity among the members of the executive as she is the only one who can do that.
Naa Darkua Dodoo, PRO of WISA and a sports journalist who combines parliamentary reporting for Rainbow Radio International said Madam Addy has shown that she is very strong and all women and girls must learn from her boldness and hard work.
Helga Gokah another member of WISA noted that the election victory of Madam Addy is a victory of all Ghanaian women who love sports. She urged women to have interest in sports because sports can take one to places and meet famous personalities.
