A woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly firing multiple shots at singer Rihanna’s home in the Beverly Crest area of Los Angeles, with the pop star inside the property at the time of the attack.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said the woman drove up to the home the singer shares with rapper A$AP Rocky and opened fire with an AR-15-style rifle. Four rounds hit parts of the property. At least one round penetrated a wall of the mansion, and bullet holes were also found in a gate and an RV parked in the driveway.
Officers responded to the scene at around 1:15 p.m. and located the suspect, a woman in her 30s, approximately eight miles away at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping centre, where she was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported and the weapon was recovered by police.
In dispatch audio, officials are heard saying the suspect’s Tesla was followed by an LAPD helicopter into a mall parking garage before patrol units pulled her over and detained her. Her identity had not been publicly released as of Sunday night, with LAPD Captain Mike Bland saying further information, including booking charges, would be issued Monday.
The LAPD’s elite Robbery-Homicide Division is handling the investigation. A possible motive was not immediately provided.
It was unclear at the time of the shooting whether A$AP Rocky and the couple’s three children, RZA, Riot Rose and Rocki, were also at the home.
Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty in Barbados, is one of the best-selling music artists of all time and has built a business empire through her Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty brands.
