The duo are nominees in the Best International Act Africa category

Fast rising music stars, Wizkid and Ice Prince have been nominated for the 2012 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

At the nomination awards held in New York, the artistes were nominated in the ‘Best International Act Africa’ category alongside Kenyan Hip-Hop/R & B group, Camp Mulla, Sarkodie from Ghana, Lira from South Africa and the talented Malian Rapper, Mokobe.

Last year’s award saw TuFace Idibia and D’Banj sharing the awards, but with strong opposition coming from the South African songstress, Lira and Malian, Mokobe. This year there are no clear favourites for the award.

Wizkid released his debut album ‘Superstar’ last year and cinched the MOBO awards. The success of the album earned him a record deal with Akon’s Konvict Music, while Ice Prince, a few weeks ago, won the ‘Best African Act’ at the 2012 Ghana Music Awards.

The 2012 BET Awards will hold on July 1 at the Los Angeles Shine Auditorium. It will be hosted by actor, Samuel L. Jackson.

Meanwhile rapper, Kanye West took the lead with seven nominations, largely due to his collaboration album ‘Watch the Throne’ with Jay-Z.
