russia winter olympics

Though the International Olympic Committee claims it has assurances from the Russian government that no Olympic athlete will be fined or arrested under Russia?s new horribly anti-gay law, Vitaly Milonov, the bill?s co-sponsor, said that?s not the case. Russian politician Milonov said that he?s heard nothing about Russian Federation officials lifting the law, nor does he even really think they?re able to. ?If a law has been approved by the federal legislature and signed by the president, then the government has no right to suspend it,? Milonov said. At least one athlete, New Zealand speedskater Blake Skjellerup, says he has ?no interest in going back into the closet in Sochi,? though he didn?t mention anything about a jail cell.
