That members of the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been putting the wrong foot forward since leading the party to its worst electoral outing in the recently concluded general election is a fact known to all.

However, what is baffling is that instead of beating a retreat to analyse reasons for the party?s woeful performance and charting the way forward as the leading opposition party in the country come May 29, 2015, the NWC is busy exacerbating the crisis in the PDP, thereby making the party?s wounds not to heal.Another of such actions is the NWC decision last Wednesday directing the Osun State chapter of the party to investigate the membership of former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PDPPCO), with a view to sanctioning him where necessary. In fact, there are many questions to ask the NWC. So, it is not out of place if people say that the PDD national executive members are just showing how frustrated they are over Fani-Kayode?s allegations regarding their roles in the defeat that the party?s presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and other candidates suffered in the poll.

Directing their frustration on Fani-Kayode is clearly misplaced. Members of the NWC cannot exonerate themselves from crisis that has engulfed the party since the last election. The honourable thing they all should do is resign, allow the party to breathe fresh air, and move forward.
