Question by Yogi Cool : Why are trans-continental flights arc to the posts instead of flying directly to destinations
I recently returned from a trip to the United States to India. I noticed that my arch in North India flight bound for Russia and then down into India. The same on the return, the return to New York, North-East Greenland and Canada. Why not just fly from east to west? I noticed the same thing in the trans-Pacific flights, as well (say, Hong Kong and Los Angeles). Best Answer:
