Counsel for DSP Gifty Mawuenyega Tehoda, E.A Vorduago has called for the reinstatement of his client in the Ghana Police Service.

Among other claims, he also demanded compensation and damages for what he described as DSP Tehoda?s unlawful detention and for withholding her promotion.

Lawyer Vorduago made the demands in court on Monday March 10, 2014 when further cross examination of DSP Tehoda resumed in the Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court presided over by His Lordship Justice Kofi Essel.

Principal State Attorney, Cecil Adadevor during cross examination asked DSP Tehoda her where about on the day large parcels of substances believed to be cocaine were intercepted from one Nana Ama Martins and kept at the police headquarters.

DSP Tehoda vehemently denied knowledge of the said consignment and maintained that she was not linked to it.

She implied that in pursuant of her interdiction, she was tried in absential.

She further said her dismissal letter was handed over to her unit commander in the form of wireless service.

DSP Tehoda disclosed that she was Deputy Commander in charge of Fire Arms Bureau of the Ghana Police Service.

In her own words, she meritoriously served the Ghana Police Service for almost 12 years and that there had never been any adverse findings involving her.

Lawyer Vorduago insisted that his client was wrongfully interdicted and summarily dismissed which according to him amounted to a violation of DSP Tehoda?s human right.

The case involving DSP Gifty Mawuenyega began on September 27, 2011 when one Nana Ama Martin?s was arrested for possessing large parcels suspected to be cocaine which later turned into bicarbonate or baking soda.

DSP Gifty Mawuenyega Tehoda was linked to the deal for which reason she was interdicted and subsequently dismissed from the Ghana Police Service as Deputy Commander in charge of the Commercial Crimes Unit of the Ghana Police Service.

The presiding judge, His Lordship Justice Kofi Essel accordingly adjourned sitting to April third and fourth.
