Governor Dickson spoke at the 66th Birthday, commemoration event in honour of the PDP Chieftain and the public presentation of a book titled, ODYSSEY: The Biography of Colonel (Dr.) Samuel Inokoba (rtd), which held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Yenagoa.

Describing the celebrant as a true statesman, who has contributed immensely towards stabilizing the party in the state, the Governor observed that Bayelsa politics was characterized by treachery, disloyalty and pull-him-down syndrome, prior to the emergence of the present administration.

He used the opportunity to again remind the political class to shun acts that, are capable of causing chaos in the state and factionalisingthe ruling PDP, because of the strategic stake Bayelsa holds in the party.

According to Dickson, ?this is a trying period, not just for Colonel Inokoba, who heads the President?s Party in the President?s State. PDP our ruling party with our leader as the national leader has its foundation in Bayelsa State. So what you do and what you don?t get right here in the PDP sends the wrong message. ?But my happiness is that Col Inokoba and his members of the working committee have been able to hold the foundation of the PDP. And they have done so very well. Thank you Colonel.

?For those of you, who have been involved in the politics of this state for sometimes, you know that in Bayelsa, immediately a governor sets up any structure, because of the essential divisive nature of politics in this state before now, two or three months down the line, you will see the party factionalised?.

Continuing, he warned politicians of the dire consequences of political instability, and urged them to subordinate their ambitions to the overriding interest of the state.

His words, ?don?t resort to violence, don?t divide the state; don?t spread blackmail and propaganda to secure advantage, because in the end, we shall all work together? let us utilize the other mechanisms that are available and because, we also know ourselves, let us talk to ourselves. Disagree when we need to but always in the interest of this state. Let no one?s personal ambition be too big for the stability of our state?.

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (rtd), who doubled as the chairman of the occasion, described Inokoba as a comrade in arms, that has contributed immensely to the development of Bayelsa and the country in general.

According to John Jonah, the celebrant was one of the those, who identified with the restoration movement early, when it was conceptualized by the governor and has demonstrated unwavering commitment to its ideals.

Responding, the state chairman of the People Democratic Party, Colonel Sam Inokoba expressed gratitude to God for his achievements in life.

He, however, acknowledged that, the stability and other successes the party has recorded under his leadership, would not have been possible, without the solid support from Governor Dickson, PDP stakeholders and other members of the restoration team.

The high point of the ceremony, was the unveiling of the book, which was reviewed by the Chief Historian and Archivist of Bayelsa State, Dr. Stephen Olali.
