“In childhood our children must be taught the love and fear of God, so that as they grow, and are confronted with issues of morality they will remember the lessons of their childhood and act as a subject of the King of Heaven,” he said.

Speaking on the theme: “Quality Adventist Education; The Bedrock for National Development to mark this year’s SDA Schools Education week, Pastor Richard Daves spoke against the shunning of the contemporary world Christian religion, which is the bedrock of true moral education.

The week was organised by Mrs Patience Smile Davies, Headmistress of SDA Basic School, Ho and Ms Philomina Edu of the Primary session.

He explained that education has lost its purpose, which is intended to serve as a barrier against the wide-spreading corruption to provide for the mental and spiritual welfare of the youth, and to promote the prosperity of the nation by furnishing it with men qualified to act in the fear of God, as leaders and counsellors.

Pastor Daves noted that the Western world has failed because of secularised education.

He said the greatest need of Ghana today is the lack of men who would not be bought or sold, “men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall”.

“God is thrown out of the window of education so most of their citizens have lost morality and conscience therefore they go naked, involve in homosexuality, lesbianism under the umbrella of human rights,” he said.

He added that to meet this growing evil, God has provided Christian school education as an aid to parents to work and educate their children in morality.

Pastor Daves said every youth and child in Ghana has a work to do for the honour of God and in the uplifting of the nation and the world at large.

“Our nations development although in a global village should not seek to be like other nations, if not God’s plan of education will be set aside and His authority will be disowned and it will lead our nation to a dead conscience, exposing our future children to more corruption, homosexuality, lesbianism, cannibalism and in a general decay,” he said.
