Mr. Frank Awuku, the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2021 hockey Africa Cup for Club Champions, ACCC, have revealed plans of organizing a very successful tournament.
“We are really prepared for this event. With support from some corporate entities, we have been able to put things together, and I am very optimistic.
He made the disclosure at a brief media engagement on Tuesday, 23rd November, 2021 at the Theodosia Okoh hockey stadium.
According to the chairman, the LOC has also outlined measures to ensure the safety of the participating clubs.
“We have engaged the teams on security issues, we decided to provide each team a police personal at their various hotels but the hotels have told us that they have their own security personnels. But we are going to provide security at the venue to ensure there is peace,” he said.
“Each team has also been provided with a bus that will transport them to and fro,” he added
He expressed gratitude to the members of the LOC and corporate entities for the support towards hosting a prestigious event during this covid era.
“Before the tournament if you had come here, you would see that the stadium was dirty. It was impossible for us to host the tournament according to some people but the LOC has done a very good job.
“We didn’t have money but we have to rally around for support and sponsors. We thank Ghana Gas, Sikkens, Kasapreko, MTN and others and individuals who have come on board to support the event,” the LOC Chairman, Mr. Frank Awuku stated.
14 clubs from four different countries will begin the quest for glory from Wednesday, 24th November, 2021 to Tuesday, 30th November, 2021 at the Theodosia Okoh hockey stadium in Accra.
