ABB in Ghana has signed a Memorandum Of Understanding with Volta River Authority with the aim of extending ABB’s training capabilities and technical know -how to VRA training academy in order to equip them in the field of Power and Automation .

The Training Collaboration Agreement between the Volta River Authority and the ABB of Switzerland, is the first of its kind in the history of the Authority.

The Chief Executive Officer of Volta River Authority Mr. Emmanuel Antwi- Darkwa, speaking at signing ceremony in Accra, stated that collaborating with ABB, the leading power and automation technology group in the field of ” Power and Automation ” is critical; since it was their quest to become the Model of Excellence for Power Utilities in Africa.

Under the two -year partnership , ABB will offer quarterly training courses in Power and Automation , 5 days each, starting from August 1st, 2017. These courses will be given to VRA trainers and Technical Engineers , and trainees .

Adding that, the collaboration will go a long way to serve as a platform for acquiring state -of- the – art knowledge and skills in Power and Automation technologies by critical staff in the industry.

“This is because our partnership now goes beyond purchasing and supply of goods and services; to breaking new frontiers in research, manufacturing, consultancy and improved productivity and performance, to the mutual benefit our two organizations”, he disclosed.

The Managing Director of ABB in Ghana, Hesham Tehemer, said ABB understand Ghana’s power challenges. It is in this regard we are making sure that VRA meet their energy and industrial development goals.
