Voting is underway in the Hohoe Constituency in a calm atmosphere despite the area being marked as one of the flashpoints in the Volta Region.

The Constituency has a voting population of 73,613 with 138 polling centres in 30 electoral areas.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) was told that at about 0300 hours, the Electoral Commission had dispatched electoral materials to the various polling stations with escort of security officers.

At the School for the Deaf- Adabrake Polling Station, a total of 635 voters were on the register with an absentee list of eight and 31 transferred voters.

Voting started at 0710 hours in the presence of security officers, party agents and observers from the European Union, as well as Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO).

At the MA Adabraka Polling Station “A”, there are 633 voters on the register with an absentee list of 13.

MA Adabraka “B” Polling Station has 609 registered voters with an absentee list of nine.

Ahlusuna Mosque Centre “A” and “B” have voter populations of 1,014 and 828 respectively. They have no list of absentees.

Turnout at the various polling stations visited by the Ghana News Agency at about 0730 hours was a bit low and characterised by late starts, which the Presiding Officer attributed to late arrival of materials.

Special arrangements were done for the aged to not to spend long periods in queues.
