Henry Ford Kamel, Minister (Designate) for Volta Region

The Volta Regional Minister, Henry Ford Kamel has indicated that the region will soon obtain a business advisory centre to hasten the economic development of the region.

The centre, which will be established by the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), will link the Economic Planning Office to facilitate business in the region.

The minister disclosed this in Ho last Saturday at a dinner held to welcome a delegation from Ningxia, Hui Autonomous Region of China.

He added that the centre will be supported by many business development experts to assist every individual, group or organization interested in doing business in the region.

He noted that the idea of the establishment of the centre was developed to ensure the resources of the region are put to good use.

Mr. Kamel, former Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, noted that an Airborne Geographical Survey conducted recently revealed that the region is well endowed with natural resources like oil, gold, copper, iron and many others.

He said the Voltaic Basin, which stretches from Ada through to Keta, contains huge deposits of oil while the Kpando area abounds with a lot of gold.

Mr. Kamel said the region also has copper, uranium, cobalt and nickel as well as tremendous tourism potential and urged all Voltarians to work hard to drive poverty out of the region.

He added that he would ensure that there is strong collaboration between the VRCC and all departments and agencies and wells as private organizations, adding “we will move heaven and earth to ensure we develop the region.”

He said with the partnership with Ningxia China, it was necessary to ensure the region exploits the ICT advancement of China to transform the region and make it a centre of excellence in Ghana and the entire continent.
