The Volta River Authority (VRA) has donated assorted food and relief items valued at GH? 20,000.00 to three health institutions to cater for the June 3 flood and fire disaster victims.

IMG-20150611-00621.jpg16695The hospitals are the 37th Military Hospital, the Police Hospital and the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital ( KBTH)

The items include blankets, antiseptic liquids, medicated soap, cooking oil, rice, toilet rolls, tin fish and bread.

Mr Sam Kwesi Fletcher, the Head of Corporate Communication, of the VRA, who made the presentation, said the gesture formed part of the VRA?s Corporate Social Responsibility and its policy on community development.

Colonel Yeboah Agyapong, the Acting Commanding Officer of the 37th Military Hospital, who received the items, thanked the VRA for the support and gave the assurance that the items would be put to good use.

At the Police Hospital, the Medical Director, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Seidu Mahamadu Zachariah, who received the items, said they had come in good time.

DCOP Zachariah said the hospital had treated and discharged eight out of the 11`patients who were admitted after the disaster .

He said the remaining three who suffered severe burns were also responding well to treatment .
