Vodafone Ghana has recently added value to the Ghanaian music industry by creating a music portal which allows subscribers of their network to purchase and download any kind of music on their network nation wide.
The music portal, which was unveiled with award winning artiste of the year Sarkodie and Dbanj, has their new exclusive collaboration for the music portal at the La Palm Beach Hotel in Accra.
The music portal allows clients of the network to download pictures, songs, and videos of both local and international artistes of their choice on the network.
Speaking to The Chronicle on the red carpet, the Senior Marketing Officer of Vodafone Ghana, Mrs. Uche Ofodile, did observe that the company was motivated to take 360 approaches to the music industry.
“The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and 020 Live Concert celebrated and rewarded our artistes, while Icons unearthed and nurtured new talents. We are now looking at access. We want to make the great music our Ghanaian and African artistes create easily accessible to their fans, and continue to support the industry by giving the artistes a platform to market themselves,” Mrs. Ofodile stressed.
Meanwhile, subscribers, after registering on the website with their mobile phones, music lovers can access the portal to download tracks for an average cost of GH¢0.35, which would be deducted from their credit.
The artistes, who market their works on the platform, would be getting a percentage of their revenue generated from all materials downloaded.
This offers an opportunity for musicians to make money from sales of their music, as well as getting paid for their live performances.
