As the Latics move clear of the relegation zone

Nigerian striker, Victor Moses’ two early goals for Wigan in Saturday’s match against Newcastle United has lifted the relegation-prone club three points clear and dented the visitors’ hope of finishing in the top four.

Victor’s strikes, which came in quick successions in the 13th and 15th minutes, were complemented with a goal each from the very impressive midfielder Maloney and Di Santo–all in the first half of the encounter–to give the hosts a deserved 4-0 win over.

The win made it five wins out of six for the Latics as they moved three points clear of the relegation zone and dented Newcastle’s hopes of finishing in the top four.

Wigan Athletic is now 16th on the league table, with three points clear of QPR, ahead of the Londoner’s clash with their West London neighbours, Chelsea.

Everton also walloped Fulham 4-0 at the Goodison Park as Nikica Jelavic scored twice to move the Toffees to the 7th position on the table and a step closer to finishing above Liverpool. Fellaini and Jelavic’s substitute Tim Cahill’s strikes completed the 4-0 routing of the visitors.
