The film Bob and Trees directed by U.S. director Diego Ongaro won the Grand Prix – the Crystal Globe – along with 25,000 dollars at the 50th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic on Saturday.

Bob, the main character in the film, is played by Bob Tarasuk himself, who in real life is a logger, not an actor.

Czech actors Alena Mihulova and Krystof Hadek won the best Actress Award and Best Actor Award respectively for their roles in the films Home Care and The Snake Brothers.

The Romanian film Box, which is a co-production of Romania, Germany and France, won the award of the International Federation of Film Critics. The film, about relationship of a theatre actress and a boxer, is directed by Florin Serban.

Austrian film Those Who Fall Have Wings by director Peter Brunner won the Special Jury Award. Kosovo director Visar Morina won the Best Director Award for his debut Babai.

The festival’s Special Awards also went to Ferdinando Cito Filomarino for the Italian-Greek film Antonia and to Anca Damiano for The Magic Mountain, a co-production of Romania, France and Poland.

Hungarian director Lili Horvath’s Wednesday Child won the East of the West Award.
Czech director Helena Trestikova won the award of documentaries over 60 minutes for her film Mallory.
Czech actress Iva Janzurova won the Festival President’s Award for her exceptional contribution to the Czech cinematography.

The Special Mention was awarded to Austrian director Albert Meisl for his documentary Father and to Israeli director Iris Zaki for her British-Israeli Women in Sink shot.

The 50th International Karlovy Vary International Film Festival was held during July 3 to 7, 2015. It screened over 200 films from 60 countries and regions and has attracted 12,800 visitors. Enditem
