Shama (W/R), Feb. 24 GNA – The Western Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, on Friday admonished Assembly members to use bicycles given to them by the government judiciously to benefit the entire electorates.

He warned Assembly members not to use the bicycles for their private work to the neglect of the official duties.

He said this when presenting bicycles to all the 25 members of the Shama District Assembly at a ceremony at Shama.

The management of the Takoradi International Company (TICO), an energy company, also presented three bicycles to the Circuit Supervisors of the  Shama District Education Directorate.

He said now that they were mobile they should travel to all corners of their electoral areas to disseminate assembly events while they collate suggestions and information for the assembly.

Mr Aidoo cautioned the members against giving the motor bicycles to their relatives and friends to ride since the law frowns on that behaviour.

He asked them to avoid alcoholism, adhere strictly to the traffic regulations and to prevent accidents.

Mr Enoch Kojo Appiah, District Chief Executive for Shama, expressed gratitude to the government and gave the assurance that the bikes would be monitored effectively.

Madam Judith Cann, an assembly member, said with the bike at and she would travel to the length and breath of her electoral area to interact with the community.
