The American Embassy in Ghana has donated some items to the Young Men?s Christian Association to support their activities.
IMG-20150414-WA0007The items which included clothing, toys and books according to Vice Counsel and American Citizens Service Chief, Nathan Simmons was presented to the YMCA because of the benevolent activities the association engages in.
He added that the YMCA?s activities mirror the ideology of the US Embassy and the American Citizens Service Chief which include youth empowerment.
?The YMCA?s benevolent acts mirror the ideology of my embassy especially one of my own aims, youth empowerment. This was a factor for the donation and I hope the relationship built would lead to more donations though my tenure is about to end?, he stated.
Executive Director of YMCA, Mr Kwabena Nketia Addae receiving the items on behalf of the association also stated that the gesture by the American Embassy was going to go a long way to support their activities.
He opined that the items would enable the association to support the various orphanages and sister institutions they are in partnership with to bring a brighter future and hope to young Ghanaians.
Mr Joseph Nunoo, National Treasurer of YMCA also added that since the association has spread its tentacles to many cities, towns and villages in the country engaging thousands of Ghanaians in meaningful pastimes, it was necessary to have more donations coming in so that the association can enhance the development of the minds, bodies and spirit of young people in order to make them productive and useful citizens.
