Ben Koufie fears ?unnecessary? debates over Ghana?s upcoming campaign at the 2014 World Cup is snowballing into a disaster waiting to happen in Brazil.

The media airwaves in recent weeks have been dominated by issues bothering on the approved budget for Ghana?s participation at June?s finals.

There is also a brewing debate over whether it is prudent to allow the wives and girlfriends to accompany their Black Stars spouses to the tournament.

But the former GFA boss believes these are issues that are taking the focus off the real preparations to be made to ensure success in Brazil.

?Ghanaians are behaving as if we haven?t been to the World Cup before,? he told Metro FM.

?This is the third time we are going to the World Cup but we are focusing on issues that don?t even matter. Everyday there is a new story.

?How do you then expect officials and players to keep a steady head going into the tournament??

Ghana, aiming to go at least one better than the quarter final finish in the last World Cup have their work cut out as they are drawn in one of the toughest groups of the tournament.

The Black Stars will open their campaign on June 16 against USA before taking on Germany and Portugal in the subsequent Group G games.
