Kenyan Interior Minister Joseph Nkaissery said the siege at the Garissa University College in the eastern town of Garissa has ended, leaving 147 people dead.

Nkaissery added the campus was held hostage by four gunmen who were killed during the operation.
The authorities said 587 students were evacuated from the university.
The Interior Ministry has requested for assistance from the National Youth Service to transport those rescued to Nairobi. Enditem
