The Lagos zonal chairman of NUPENG Tokunbo Korodohas assured residents of Lagos State of availability of petroleum products at filling stations during the Yuletide. He gave the assurances while speaking on the coming yuletide.

He promised that his members would not embark on any strike during the Christmas and New Year festivities, saying that they were committed to making people happy during the period. “We will go extra mile to see that all our tankers move petrol to designated filling stations in the state. We are going to do our best and collaborate with the authorities to see that petrol is available for people to enjoy the festivities,?? he said.

The chairman, however, said that their commitment to ensuring availability of fuel was dependent on the commitment to this goal by the NNPC.

“NNPC must assiduously ensure that it repairs any vandalised pipeline. As we speak, most our tankers are now lifting petrol from the Ejigbo and Mosumi Depots because of some technical problems at the Apapa Depot. Government must address any operational and technical challenges at any depot timely so that we can prove our commitment to ensure that Lagos residents have fuel to buy, ` he said.

Korodo said the union would not deter to negotiate better conditions of service for it members in any oil company. “We will make sure that any of our members who were retrenched get their entitlements,“ he said.
