The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has teamed up with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) to help deepen the quality of Ghana’s cocoa beans.

Through the support of the two institutions, the Quality Control Company (QCC) of the Ghana Cocoa Board has received two global quality certificates: ISO IEC 17020 and ISO IEC 17025, for its laboratory and its inspectorate operations.

Presenting the certificates to the QCC, Juan Pablo Dávila Sanchez, who manages UNIDO’s global quality and standards program in West Africa lauded the hard work and determination from the QCC to attain the two ISO certifications.

“Although Ghana cocoa beans are recognized for their outstanding quality, these international accreditations will further strengthen the country’s position and recognition as one of the world’s leading cocoa producer,” Swiss Ambassador to Ghana Philipp Stalder said.

He said that 60 percent of all Swiss chocolate was made from Ghanaian cocoa beans, expressing delight that the Swiss government through SECO had been able to support Ghana to improve its quality control measures. Enditem
