Undefeated Ghanaian Bantamweight boxer Duke Micah stopped his crafty Mexican opponent Jonathan Aguilar in the eighth round to claim the WBC International (Silver) Bantamweight title.

The 25 year-old new champion started on a bright note in front of hometown fans in the Bukom Boxing Arena and was leading on the scorecards when he sprang to full action in the eighth round which later resulted in the technical knockout of Jonathan Aguilar who suffered an injury in his arm.

After overcoming Matthew Chanda in November 2016, Micah has now fought 21 bouts without a loss.

Despite his defeat Aguilar who now has six defeats made things tough for Duke Micah in the opening rounds.

Dressed in his usual black shorts Duke made his presence known by landing lots of punches on Aguilar who replied back with enough punches as the fight progressed.

Micah could not hold back his tears when the referee announced that Johnathan’ camp has thrown in the towel due to an injury he sustained.

Micah’s gym mates Richard Commey and Frederick Lawson who also fought on the night also won their fights respectively and were dressed with WBC Silver belts.

The Street Wise and Errol Hawk promotion was graced by the President of Ghana Nana Akufo Addo, ex-President Jerry John Rawlings and other state officials.

Musicians King Jerry and Papa Row entertained the fans and received wild applause for their show.
