“The ADF rebels could be regrouping along the border between Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), as well as in Ituri province where they have previously committed atrocities against the civilian population,” deputy commander of the UN force Jean Baillon said.

Baillon noted that resolution of the ADF problem requires all actors in the region to support the ongoing military action on the ground.

In the last two weeks, about 50 civilians have been killed by assailants suspected to be ADF fighters in eastern DR Congo.

According to a local civil society group, over 1,000 people have been killed in attacks attributed to ADF rebels in the last one year. Enditem
