A United Kingdom (UK) firm has been given a license to commence uranium exploration in southern Zambia’s Siavonga district, a senior government official said on Thursday.

uraniumMinister of Mines and Minerals Development Christopher Yaluma said Groviacks Minerals has taken over a license of two firms that were initially awarded rights to explore for uranium.

Africa Energy and Denison Mines have handed over their licenses to the UK firm that also runs uranium mines in Niger, according to state broadcaster, the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation.

The firm, he said, has so far done tremendous works in their exploration and that latest geological findings so far look promising.
