An anonymous person has come forward to claim 1.5 billion U.S. dollars, the largest ever Mega Millions jackpot, in the U.S. southeastern state of South Carolina, the state’s lottery authority tweeted Monday.

“BREAKING NEWS: The $1.5 BILLION Mega Millions jackpot-winning ticket sold in South Carolina has been claimed! The winner chose to remain anonymous,” said South Carolina Education Lottery on Twitter. The winner bought the ticket from a drawing in October. It was also the second-largest lottery in U.S. history. The lucky person has taken a one-time Mega Millions payment of 877,784,124 dollars before taxes, according to a statement from the South Carolina Education Lottery Commission. The winner has 180 days to claim his or her winnings with the April 19 deadline fast approaching, according to an NBC report.
