The U.S. cybersecurity company Proofpoint will acquire the Israeli cyber company ObserveIT for 225 million U.S. dollars, the two companies announced Sunday.

ObserveIT was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Israel’s coastal city of Tel Aviv, and in Boston, the United States, serving more than 1,800 customers in 87 countries.

The Israeli company’s solution helps large organizations to identify and eliminate insider threat incidents by delivering real-time alerts and actionable insights into user activity.

This detection and prevention enables proactive defense against both malicious and negligent user behavior from employees, privileged users, and third parties.

“We are very excited to join Proofpoint and provide even more powerful solutions to mitigate insider threats, decrease incident investigation time, and make sure users don’t send valuable, confidential information externally,” said Mike McKee, ObserveIT’s CEO.

“The combination of ObserveIT’s technology and analytics with our information classification, threat detection, and intelligence will give enterprises unprecedented insights into user activity with their sensitive data, wherever it resides,” said Proofpoint.

Proofpoint, founded in 2002 and headquartered in Sunnyvale, United States, primarily deals with e-mail security. Enditem
