A five-day aviation workshop co-hosted by Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and U.S. Air Forces Africa (AFAFRICA) kicked off in Rwandan capital Kigali on Monday.

The African Partnership Flight training running from Monday to Friday is AFAFRICA’s premier security cooperation program with its African partner nations, RDF said in a statement on Monday.
Five African countries — Cameroon, Ghana, Rwanda, Senegal and Zambia — are attending the training with the United States.

The training is intended to foster more effective military relationships between participating nations and improve professional military aviation knowledge and skills, said the statement.

The aim of such workshops is to share experiences, best practices in techniques and procedures and to strengthen relationships, said Rwanda Air Force Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Charles Karamba in the statement.

“This safety workshop is the first of its kind to take place in Rwanda. It will equip Rwanda Air Force personnel and other African Air Forces present here with the knowledge and skills to cope with modern air safety standards,” said Karamba.

The training will include a series of multi-disciplinary courses and workshops with focus on aviation safety culture, industrial safety and personal protective equipment, safety program management, accident response and safety investigations. Enditem
