The wooden structure after the fire

TWO FEMALE bodies were discovered by firefighters after they had  put out a fire that gutted a wooden structure at Tarkwa-Maakro in Kumasi in the early hours of yesterday.

Neighbours of the community identified the deceased persons as Amina Ibrahim, a 20-year-old hairdresser apprentice, and Ruth, a 22-year-old remedial student.

Fire Service personnel were reportedly alerted to the fire around 1am at the Tarkwa-Maakro Junction located just off the Offinso road.

The Suame District Police Command confirmed the incident which people in the neighbourhood suspected to be a case of arson.

An eyewitness, De-Graft Adjei, told DAILY GUIDE that some other occupants in an adjoining makeshift structure, however, escaped unhurt.

According to him, people living around the wooden structure, where the two people died in the perceived arson attack, were ?dumbfounded? by the ?horrific cold blooded murder.?

Police were still questioning some church and family members of the victims over their deaths at the time of filing this report.

The paper gathered that the fire broke out in the wooden structure just around 1am while the door was locked from outside with a padlock.

Some neighbours said the fire surprisingly spread quickly with devastating effect within a short time of the arrival of the fire service men who managed to contain it at about 1:30 am.

There were three questions on the lips of neighbours: ?Who were those killed? What was the cause of the fire? Who were the perpetrators, and why? ?De-Graft Adjei told DAILY GUIDE and continued that people knew the answer to the first but the two remained a mystery.

At the scene of the fire revealed the clothing and other personal items of the occupants of the structure which had been reduced to ashes.
